Kenyan pastor arrested for defiling five-year-old girl in Naivasha

Dec,21-2017 11:39:20
A pastor at one of the evangelical churches in Naivasha, Kenya was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly defiling a five-year-old girl.

The pastor from KCC village along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway was nabbed hours after the incident after the minor reported the matter to her parents.

"The pastor, who is well known in this estate, gave the minor Sh50 and told her to keep quiet over the issue that has left area residents seething with anger," a neighbour said.

Naivasha sub-county commissioner Isaac Masinde said cases of child abuse were on the rise, especially in informal estates.

He called on members of the public to work with chiefs to deal with the cases adding that no suspect will be spared.

"We have had two bizarre incidents where very young minors have been sexually abused by their mentors. We are keen to address this emerging problem," he said on Thursday.

Meanwhile, police in Kongoni Naivasha are holding a 13-year-old boy for allegedly defiling a girl, 3, and leaving her for the dead.

The teenager escaped lynching from irate members of the public at Moi Ndabi area, some 40kilometres from Naivasha town.

The minor, who was bleeding from her private parts, was rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital for treatment.

Neighbours said the suspect was left to take care of the minor by the mother who had rushed to hospital.

"When the mother came back she found the minor bleeding and on been questioned, the teenager gave contradicting stories before he was arrested," Naivasha assistant county commissioner Joseph Opondo said.

He said the standard three drop out will be charged in court with various offences once police were through with their investigations.
