NAKURU, Kenya__Joseph Kenja Kagotho, a long time, well known and highly respected member of the Kenyan community in Boston died suddenly Monday January 2nd in Nakuru Kenya, barely one year since he relocated back to the motherland.

The late Kagotho (68), He leaves behind his wife, Beatrice Kagotho and six children, 5 boys and one girl.

Among them is: Stephen Kagotho, Patrick Kagotho, Mary Kagotho, Benson Kagotho, Buru Buru Kagotho, all of Worcester, and Anthony Kagotho of Kenya.

According to family sources speaking to Ajabu Africa News, the late Kagotho was scheduled to attend a New Year's event Sunday evening with his sister, gospel singer Lucy Muthumbi (Wasaimo), of Lowell ( near Boston) but currently in Kenya on vacation.

However, when they they went to pick him up for a ride, they found him unresponsive inside his house in Nakuru, Rift Valley region in Kenya.

Sources said that Kagotho was rushed to a hospital where doctors tried unsuccessfully to treat him of a brain hemorrhage that had developed.

The late Kagotho had lived in Boston for many decades, actively helping build the community in many different ways including being one of the first Kenyans to call for and help organize the New England Kenyan Welfare Association (NEKWA) with a dream of having a unified and cohesive Kenyan commmuntiy in Boston.

During his stay in the diaspora, the late Kagotho lived in the Worcester area, about a 40 minute drive from Downtown Boston.
