PROVIDENCE, RI__Grammy award winning reggae band, Steel Pulse, in conjunction with other reggae titans including Yellowman, Mighty Mystic, Third world and more will entertain fans at the annual Waterfront Reggae festival tomorrow Saturday August 8 at the India Point Park located on Gano Street in Providence, Rhode Island.

Other scheduled performers at the event that will take place from 12 noon to 10pm include the High Hopes Band, The Copacetics and Omega Sound's DJ Realm.

Since inception, the festival has been taking place at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, Rhode Island but organizers decided to relocate to Providence.
 
The highly popular event attracts hundreds of African immigrant reggae fans who troop from all over New England just to meet up the popular reggae music artistes whom they grew up listening to while in the motherland where reggae music enjoys a near- fanatical following.


Yellowman

According to many Africans in the Diaspora and in the motherland, Reggae music is much loved for it's liberating messages on a wide ally of social, political and economic issues including political oppression, slavery, and domination, poverty, religion as well as love.

According to recent census data, there are hundreds of thousands African immigrants in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and other neighboring states that make up New England.

Tickets to the event are going for $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
