The Award-winning actress through a Facebook post did not hesitate showing her excitement being in the region which she calls home.  Her post says, “From 6,000 pearls to just 1: Uganda. Excited to be back in East Africa to work with Mira Nair on Queen of Katwe.”

Mira Nair is the Director of the film.

Ugandan fans were happy with Lupita’s visit, and shared warm messages welcoming the Oscar Award winner. Here are some of them:

Ronald Muchz Rygan: Uganda Pearl of Africa is proud to have you home.

Thinnah M. Enekwa:  Lupita thanks for visiting. Enjoy yourself.

Abraham Karanga: Lupita, welcome home.  Have a great shoot. I am looking forward to the movie.

Zee Zee:  Ah! The pearl of Africa - Africa will rise! Lupita you are the second pearl.

However, her Kenyan fans could not hold back their anxiety, and had to ask if she would visit her motherland:

William Jilavoya Kivisi: Pass by home – Kenya. We got love for you.

Philip Mbithi Kiswii: Why did you skip your homeland Kenya in your visit? Your parents are here and you should make a point of visiting them.

Lena Kinyanjui:  Lupita, your city your town is near – Nairobi, Kenya. Pay a visit

Princess Achieng: Lupita come home (Kenya) yawa!

Evans Ochieng:  How did you sneak through Nairobi’s JKIA to Uganda without being noticed by our paparazzi? We will camp at the airport.

The film Queen of Katwe has Lupita as the lead starring. She plays the role of a mother to a brilliant teenager, Phiona Mutesi. She grows up in sheer poverty. She lacks school fees to get proper education. However, her decision to join Sports Outreach Institute as a chess player turned out to be her changing point. Since then, her life has progressed for the better.
