LOWELL, Mass.__Recently, Kenyans in Boston were in the news for allegedly causing a serious shortage of goat meat in the Lowell area, a revelation that came to light following a dramatic escape of one goat from the Dennis Oliveira Piggery in Tewksbury.

The popular farm has served Kenyans and other immigrant communities with their beloved ethnic delicacies for more than 30 years since the pioneering immigrants landed.

As the Lowell police department got sucked into hunting  the goat, regular locals were warned  not to approach the goat should they sight it near their backyards, a popular twitter hash tag,
#TheLowellGoat emerged, eliciting the a heated debate and consequent media reports accusing Kenyan nationals of eating too much barbequed goat meat, populary known asNyama Choma.

But to make up to Kenyans for the not too way off allegations, Dennis, the farm owner is throwing in a  whole goat to add to the several purchased for feasting during Sundays Kenyan cultural festival at the Lowell Lodge of Elks.

"I gave the goat that took off to some guy out there when they captured found it. Now I want to give one goat to Kenyans to enjoy during the Kenyan festival on Sunday because Kenyans have been very good customers to me for many years," he told Ajabu Africa News during an interview at his farm.

He added that he was honored to see that many Kenyans did not desert him after his farm was shut down by authorities for over 6 months  for several  citations, but come back in big numbers  to purchase goat meat, beef as well as poultry when the farm was re-opened recently.

In a clear testimony to the love and special relationship the farmer has with the Kenyan community, he allowed a group of Kenyan goat meat lovers to erect a special structure within the farm where they meet every Saturday night to roast goat meat over an open fire as they socialize the African way.

The corrugated iron sheet structure comes in handy as it allows Kenyans to meet all year round, regardless of the harsh New England weather.

The Oliveira farm, located at 199 Marston Street in Tewksbury attracts hundreds of customers from many east African,West African, Middle eastern and south American immigrant communities who love to feast on farm raised goats and poultry as a reminder to their motherlands.

"Kenyans are good people. They love their goat meat. I am wishing them well during the cultural festival and hope they enjoy the extra goat I am providing as my appreciations," he added.

Dennis also sought to inform other Kenyans and immigrants from other communities who may not be aware that the farm is now reopened that he is back in business, more than before.

"Come on down. We will take care of you very well out here for whatever you need. I got a lot of goats, sheep, chicken pig, cows and many other animals you may need for your events."

However, the man remained non committal when invite to attend the Boston Kenyan Festival, citing a tight schedule previously arranged for the particular day.

Thanking Dennis for his generosity, Willie Mbugua (Uncle Willie) said that the farmers goodwill gesture to the Kenyan community is a thing that others need to replicate.

"Dennis has done the right thing as we have been his customers for many years.I hope this can be replicated by other businessmen and individuals as we seek to build much needed  harmony and pride in our community," said Mbugua, a member of the New England Kenyan Welfare Association (Nekwa) that is hosting the cultural festival, and one of the pioneer Kenyan immigrants to settle in Lowell, discovering the Oliveira farm in the process over 25 years ago.

The organization is still seeking for donors to sponsor a kids bouncing castle for tomorrow’s event as well as a Kenyan public notary who may want to provide services notary services during the ID registrations that will be going on concurrently nearby the festival venue.
