LOWELL, Massachusetts. The rate at which marriages are breaking apart within the African community in Boston has reached alarming proportions.

The disturbing disclosure was made by Rev. Jeremiah Menyoingai Jr. of the Christ Jubilee International Ministries, a multi-national African community church in Lowell while announcing that a Valentine's Day Dinner & Seminar planned at the church this coming Saturday from 7pm will be dedicated to dealing with the specific issues ravaging most marriages.

"It's now a crisis in the African community that many couples are divorcing or separating at an alarming rate as soon as they find footing in USA--after struggling together for years. This is disheartening as it is happening among saved Christians from different African communities even as they continue to attend church," he told Ajabu Africa News during an interview at the church offices in Lowell.

The pastor said that no punches will be pulled during the seminar, but rather all issues affecting married couples will be addressed head on. Kids will not be allowed to attend due to the sensitive nature of the expected discussions. Deliberations will be led by the pastor himself in conjunction with his wife, Pastor Faimatta Menyongai.

Among the major marriage wrecking issues to be addressed are: bedroom activities among couples, how to fight fair in marriage, failure to pray in the "war room", doubts and mistrust, family financial planning, God's place in the marriage, and many more.

"As a church, we want to take a stand on these matters. They have affected many within and without our churches. Many men are either abusive toward their women or even refuse to work and provide for their families even when they have every opportunity to find a good job and improve themselves. The women are not guiltless either - many of them assume masculine roles as soon as they accrue a degree or high-paying job than their husbands and end up disrespecting and kicking their men out of the home," said pastor Menyongai.

"When a spouse, whether male or female, sacrifices so that the other will attain a higher degree and then is kicked out of the home, this becomes a reason for a curse to land on that ungrateful spouse. Spouses must individually support each other for better job and financial opportunities. Valentine Dinners as usual is not enough --we must address the root causes of these issues without sugarcoating anything," he stressed.

The pastor added that that the Liberian, Kenyan and Nigerian communities in Boston seem to be the most severely affected African communities

"All our African communities have been affected but it seems like the Liberian, Kenyan and Nigerian communities are particularly hard hit. It is not yet clear why that is so. We welcome all interested couples to come in so we can have a discussion and begin from somewhere," he urged.(Also Read:NEWS ALERT:How Money Brings Out the Devil in Kenyan Women in the Diaspora)

Rev. Menyongai said that couples in great relationships, struggling relationships and those wanting to give their dead relationships a chance must attend to hear a word from a different perspective after trying elsewhere in vain.

Quoting Walter Trobisch, author of the acclaimed marriage issues book,I married you,the pastor added that "love is a feeling that people can learn." He also said that learning to forgive each other as couples is a key ingredient to happy and successful marriages.

Rev. Menyongai said that the dinner will be provided for free to all couples and couples- to be who want to attend. Even those who are single but contemplating future relationships can attend. The dinner will start at 7pm sharp at the church's social hall located on 101 Smith Street in Lowell.
