LOWELL, MA__Tragedy struck the family of Rev. Charles Kihiko of the Calvary Evangelical church in Dracut near Boston when his only daughter collapsed and died while on a vacation to Kenya on Tuesday night.

Grace Wairimu Kihiko (29) had just retired to bed in the upstairs bedroom at the family's motherland home in Dagoretti Market near Nairobi, when she suddenly collapsed and became unresponsive, family sources told Ajabu Media.

Efforts to perform CPR on her did not succeed. She was then rushed to the nearby Kikuyu Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Family sources added that the late Wairimu had underlying medical conditions which may have resulted in the unexpected death.

"My dad had gone for vacation to Kenya with my sister when they got stuck there when flights were cancelled due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. They were just waiting for travel to resume so they could come back to Boston and join the rest of the family when this tragedy happened," said Timothy Kihiko, the eldest son among the 3 siblings in the family.

"We are very shocked," he added, saying it is a difficult time for his mother, Jane Kihiko, and younger brother, Njuguna Kihiko, all of Lowell, MA after receiving the sad news from their distraught dad over the phone.

Due to social distancing measures put in place by authorities both in the United States and in Kenya, the family has set up an online WhatsApp group and prayer line for funeral arrangements and co-ordination of donations.

Friends and well-wishers are requested to join the family for prayers every day from 7pm by dialing:(978) 419-9763.

Donations towards funeral expenses can be sent to Jane Kihiko via CashApp #:(978) 601-5955.

"It is not yet clear when and where the funeral will take place due to the current global pandemic, but consultations are ongoing," said the younger Kihiko.

May the late Wairimu Rest in Peace.
