Waltham, Mass., April 8, 2019

Conrad Mwamba Natse, a 36-year-old Kenyan from Busia, died Friday from circumstances that remain unclear. Following the ten years he spent in Kampala before coming to the U.S., his closest friends were Ugandans living in Waltham, Mass. Uganda was therefore his second home after Kenya.

Post-mortem analyses have so far revealed nothing as to the cause of his death, but the medical pathologist took samples and sent them to the lab for further investigations.

Conrad came to the U.S. in 2017, seeking the American dream like the rest of all of us immigrants. Having gone for further studies in Uganda before coming here, he lived and worked in Kampala for ten years, at the Tropical Bank. He also worked with the Boy Scouts of Uganda.

Margaret Lucero, a Ugandan who has lived in Waltham for many years, welcomed Conrad when her friend called her and told her he was coming over to start his new life here.

"He was like a son to me," Margaret said on Monday night during a wake to celebrate the deceased. "He was one of my children, and this was his first home in the United States."

Margaret further explained that Conrad had been visiting one of her family friends in Waltham, close to her house, on Thursday evening, before going to an apartment he recently moved to in Brookline later that night. On Friday afternoon, one of his close friends, after repeated but failed attempts to get a hold of him, went to check on him and found him dead on his bed.

"He was so looking forward to linking up with Kenyans in the Boston Area, especially in Lowell, where he heard they were many," a friend who attended the Monday April 8 wake said. "Unfortunately, he died before this dream came true."

Conrad's friends are meeting every evening at Margaret's home. His parents back in Kenya have expressed a strong desire to come get his body and transfer it to its final resting place. Plans are underway to secure visas for them to travel to the U.S. to bring their son back home.

Conrad's body is currently at Brasco and Sons Funeral Home in Waltham, who have set their total fees at $12,000. Ugandans have so far raised $4,000. The organizing committee for the funeral, chaired by Alex Inyagwa, is appealing to Kenyans to attend the daily evening wake at the following address:

13 Ripley St

Waltham, MA 02453

Phone contact: 781-715-9614

... as well as the fundraiser which will be held on April 27, 2019, between 3:30 and 6:00 p.m. at:

Rapture Harvest Church

133 Water St

Wakefield, MA 01880

Phone contact: Alex Inyagwa, 508-663-8417

A CashApp account has also been set up with Evans Juma at 413-777-7088. Please feel free to donate whatever you are able to. Nothing is too small!

Alex noted that if Kenyans come out in their typical generosity, Conrad's body will be flown back home on April 29 for a proper send-off.

May God rest Conrad's soul in eternal peace!
