WESTON, MA__
With many students and teachers forced to be creative on how to mark the climax of their hard earned achievements at various colleges and high schools across USA  caused by the unprecedented onset of the global Covid-19 pandemic, traditional graduation ceremonies that mark this time of the year have been replaced with virtual ones.

The unexpected development has seen the publisher of Ajabu Africa News and Media Communications, Harrison Maina mark his graduation in the Master's of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Regis College in a virtual hooding ceremony conducted on Zoom Thursday night.

The ceremony saw about 20 students and three professors in the class of 2020 ABA program congregate to reflect and mark the official end of studies pending an official commencement ceremony planned to take place in late summer or early Fall, depending on the progress made on the Covid-19 war.

Maina was among the new graduates from the program who are looking forward to serve in various industries including treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), company performance management, education, technology applications and other socially significant human problems.

They were joined by three professors at the department of Applied Behavior Analysis, led by the director, Dr. Jacquelyn MacDonald, Dr. Diana-Parry Cruwys and adjunct professor, Cormac MacManus.

Offering virtual congratulations, Dr. MacDonald told the graduates that they deserved the achievements they had managed to attain at a time of great difficulty in the world.

"You are going to be amazing behavior analysts. You are so close to getting your dream job
No one deserves this as much as you do because you worked so hard. Congratulations", Dr. MacDonald told the granduands.

She wished them the best of luck as they bring their acquired skills to the workforce where they are already working helping children at many Autism treatment programs and schools.

"Congratulations. Go out there and impact the community with all the skills you learnt. Do a lot of researches to solve problems and you will be happy that research will have your name on it," she encouraged.

Urging the new graduates to stay in touch with the faculty for guidance and mentorship, Dr. Diana-Parry Cruwys said that the program always holds its graduates in high esteem and in close contact even as they go out in the field. She said that staying connected is essential for the growth of the knowledge in the field.

"We always hold our graduates dearly and we always want to stay in close contacts with them. But for this class, we hold you even closer due to the hardship you experienced towards the end. You signed up for in- campus experience but you ended with an on-line experience without notice. Congratulations," said Dr. Diana-Parry Cruwys.

"You guys displayed an amazing ability to adapt and succeed while doing so. We wish you all the best and please stay in touch with us. I am always excited when I meet our graduates at the BABAT convention. Networking and keeping connected is very crucial in this field," said Professor MacManus.

BABAT is an acronym for the renowned Berkshire Association for Behavior Analysis and Therapy,a 40 year old organizationformed to host annual conferences for professionals, teachers, students and persons interested in the areas of behavior analysis, Autism, developmental disabilities, ethics, behavioral medicine, staff development, and more in the New England region and beyond.

The virtual hooding ceremony also saw the students watch recorded virtual graduation congratulatory and clap out messages by the president of Regis College, Dr. Antoinette Hays, PhD, RN, heads of different programs and professors to the entire Class of 2020.
