Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has dismissed claims that he is misusing tax payers' money in Rio after a picture of his 'look--alike' started doing rounds on social media.

In the photo, a man is seen enjoying a drink while holding a Caucasian woman.

Various captions have accompanied the photo, including: "Kenya is well represented at Rio Hon Chris Wamalwa become the first Kenyan to strike Gold at the Rio Olympics ama hii ni medal gani?"

But Wamalwa denied 'living it up' during the ongoing Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

"That's photoshop propaganda, am not in Rio. Am in Kenya at parliament now (sic)," he said on Monday when reached for comment.

Wamalwa said he was holed up in a parliamentary committee at that moment.

The photo elicited reaction from National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale who accused Wamalwa of lowering the dignity of the house.

Duale was responding to a tweet accompanying the photo that read: "While Julius Yego was struggling to get his ticket to MPs like Chris Wamalwa enjoying themselves in Rio."

But Kenyans on Twitter were quick to issue a rebuttal:

"I knew they were going to do this. Next time hustlers should be sponsored to accompany the Atheles not these rich guys," @Giftedzoom said

@Khalidahmed416 added: I said before nobody can pass the test of integrity in our current crops of parliamentarians #Lackofintegrity

"am sure most of you guys morning here given a chance you'd do worse give @chriswamalwa a break" another user, @Brown73Rose said.

@esther13041968 noted: "This is hilarious. nobody can beat us. No wonder our schools are on fire. No models for the younger generation. Lord hear us!"

"Yego saga was just a hiccup that may occur any any organisation, MPs have a right to enjoy themselves," @kahukamau said.
