Ugandan legislator Bobi Wine has sent a special message to Kenyans after regaining his health which had deteriorated when he was in detention.
Speaking on Monday, the Kyadondo East MP thanked Kenyans for their input and energy in ensuring he regained his freedom.
"I want to remind you of the fellow Africans who stood with us but in a special way I want to appreciate our Kenyan brothers and sisters, the Kenyan legislators, artists, writers and bloggers who stood with us.
"Your actions were a reminder that you have always stood with us all through history am glad that you are still supporting us at this defining point our history as Ugandans," he stated.
The pop star, also known as Robert Kyagulanyi, was addressing journalists at his home.
On August 23, dozens of Kenyans took to the streets of Nairobi to protest against detention of the legislator by the Ugandan government.
The Law Society of Kenya, Amnesty International, Ugandans living in Kenya and student leaders gathered at the Freedom Corner at Uhuru Park and marched to the Ugandan embassy on Riverside Drive.
During the protest, the Ugandan MP, who was facing charges of illegal arms possession charges, was freed by the military court in Gulu.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino told off President Museveni's administration for seeking to silence Kenyan legislators who expressed concerns over the evident mistreatment of Ugandan opposition leaders.
On Thursday last week, BBC's Nairobi correspondent Ferdinand Omondi was arrested and detained by Uganda police for covering the homecoming of the troubled Kyandondo East MP.
